Coaching for independence
A Bridge to “Adulting” - YOUR way
A Life of My Own seeks to expand the intersection of neurodiversity ideals and strengths-based learning to empower young adults, to first envision then realize their potential.
At A Life of My Own, we believe the goal of coaching neurodiverse students and young adults is to assist them in finding their unique ways of thinking, working, and being. This facilitates self-advocacy and ultimately access.
Having deep conviction in the social justice framework, our practices are guided by neurodiversity ideologies combined with evidence-based best practices.
We further believe the coaching process should be empowering: as individual as there are people, focused on strengths, student-centered, positive, and confidence-building.
More exciting changes coming!
It has been over two years since A Life of My Own onboarded two additional coaches as part of our team. Jacob and Marc have brought with them valuable experience and additional areas of expertise. They are working out of the Seattle/ Bellevue area and are available for in-person and virtual meetings, and even offer expanded hours!
Jesse has since joined the team as admin support and also as a coach. See Jesse’s bio for more information on what they bring to the team!

What People Are Saying
“I like to think of A Life of My Own as my ‘Strategy Consultant’!”
— Alex, Current Student, August 2023
“Thank you so much for providing the training that was needed. This was a positive experience for our son and I’m appreciative of the time you took to stretch him further!”
— Parent, August 2018
“When we contacted Becky a little more than a year ago, our son was struggling to complete his college degree. He was exhausted. His every attempt to “try harder” just resulted in more failure. He knew the material so well he could have taught most of it! But when “success” required him to communicate or negotiate with a professor, he froze.
Becky was truly a gift. It was such a relief for me to let go of trying to coach my son, love and enjoy him for who he is, and allow someone else to come alongside him.
And it was a pure joy to watch him as he began to experience successes and make tangible progress towards the goals he had for himself: graduation and the job he has been preparing for since third grade.
He is so happy and we are incredibly grateful. I only wish we had found [A Life of My Own] in the first year of his college life instead of his last.
— Parent of a College Student, May 2020
